2 kW Input 160 Metre Linear Amplifier
The photos below detail my first attempt at a home built linear amplifier using a 4-1000A tetrode tube. It did not take long
for me to realise that there is far more time and effort needed in fabricating the
chassis and enclosure than there is in putting all of the electronic components
together into a functional circuit.
When
completed and 'debugged' this amplifier produced around 1400 watts of R.F. on
160 metres when driven with 110 watts from my Kenwood TS-520S. A circuit diagram of the R.F.
section can be seen here
In anticipation of the next cycle, I'm contemplating
reworking this amplifier for the 10 metre band and driving a 5 element mono-band
yagi with it.
